Evaluation of Lukluki (flacourtia Jangomes) Germplasm

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Ten germplasm of Lukluki such as FJ Akb-004 FJ Akb-006, FJ Akb-007, FJ Akb-008, FJ Akb-011, FJ Akb-012, FJ Akb-016, FJ Akb-017, FJ Akb-020 and FJ Akb-021 were evaluated at the RARS, Akbarpur, Moulvibazar during the year 2013-14. Data on fruit characteristics were varid significantly. Among the germplasm studied single fruit weight was obtained the highest (9.55 g) from FJ Akb-007 followed by FJ Akb-004 (8.25 g) and the lowest (4.90 g) from FJ Akb-012. Weight of skin ranged from 0.20 (FJ Akb-006) to 0.50 g (FJ Akb-007). Maximum pulp weight (5.40 g) was obtained from the fruits of FJ Akb-007 and minimum (2.71 g) from FJ Akb-016. The number of seeds/fruit (12) was found the height in FJ Akb-008, FJ Akb-016 and FJ Akb-020 and the lowest (10) in FJ Akb-006, FJ Akb-011 and FJ Akb-021. The heaviest (1.45 g) seeds/fruit was obtained from FJ Akb-007 and the lowest (1.0 g) from FJ Akb-021. The highest TSS (20.20%) content was manifested in FJ Akb-007 and this line performed very good in taste, in contrast the germplasm FJ Akb-016 contained the lowest TSS (14.20%) with good taste.

Objectives:

To study the performance of lukluky germplasm at Akbarpur, Moulvibazar
To evaluate, characterized and documented the lukluky germplasm for future utilization
To select superior lukluky germplam in respect to yield and fruit quality for developed as varieties

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Regional Agriculture Research Station, Akbarpur, Moulvibazar during the year 2013-14. Ten germplasm of lukluki such as FJ Akb-004 FJ Akb-006, FJ Akb-007, FJ Akb-008, FJ Akb-011, FJ Akb-012, FJ Akb-016, FJ Akb-017, FJ Akb-020 and FJ Akb-021 were studied in this experiment. The plants were planted at 1998 in a distance of 5×5 m². The experiment was laid out in a single row plantation with three replications. Single plant considered as a treatment. The plants were fertilized with cowdung (20 kg), urea (250 g), TSP (250 g) and MoP (200 g) in two equal installments one at the onset and other at the end of the rainy season. Intercultural operations such as weeding, spading, loosing of soil, irrigation and plant protection measures were done as and when required. Data on harvest duration, number of fruits/plant, fruit weight (g), fruit length (cm), fruit breadth (cm), skin weight (g), pulp weight (g), seeds/fruit (no.), seed weight (g), edible portion (%), TSS (%), yield/plant (kg), skin color, flesh color and organoleptic tastewere taken and statistically analyzed.

Achievement/Findings:

The line FJ Akb-007 was found better among the germplasm with respect to fruit weight, TSS and taste and may be recommended as a variety through further study.
