Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The intervention of the muscles of shoulder girdle and the lateral thoracic wall by the ventral branches of spinal nerve were studied in black Bengal goat. The fibres from the dorsal branch of fourth cervical spinal nerve supplied M. serratus vent- ralis (cervicis). Fibres from the dorsal branches of last two or three cervical and first four thoracic spinal nerves supplied the skin and cutaneous muscle and in addition they distributed fibres to M. rhomboideus. trapezius, latissimus dorsi and longi- ssimus dorsi. The suprascapular and subscapular nerves showed differences in their origin, Course and distribution in comparison with other ani -uals e. g. ox and horse, The external thoracic nerve received the number of intercostal nerves showed diffe- rences from other domestic animals e. g. horse, ox, and dog. The formation of loops by pectoral and musculocutaneous ner- ves wlth median nerve also differed from other domestic ani- mals. The radial nerve was the largest in the plexus.

Objectives:

. The present investigation on the intervation of shoulder and lateral thoracic wall of goat was undertaken with a view to narrowsing the g sps that exists in this field

Methodology:

Ten Black Bengal goats were used in this investigation. The cervical and thoracic parts were dissected to study the distribution of the nerves supplying the shoulder girdle. The animals were preserved in 10% formalin. The nerves supplying the muscles were observed clearly by using magnifoc user.
