Effect of Different Levels of N, P and K on the Oil Content of Groundnut.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was carried out in pots in 4 different soils on groundnut with 4 levels of N, P and K fertilizers as N_oP_oK_o. N₂₀P₄₀K₄₀, N₃₀P₆₀K₆₀and N₄₀P₈₀K₈₀ kg/ha from urea. T. S. P and muriate of potash. The experiment was under taken in randomized block design with four replications ultimately having 64 experimental units. The results revealed that different soils and fertilizer levels produced different amount of kernel oil content. The effect of fertilizers on kernel oil content was not statistically significant but soil effect and soil- fertilizer interaction effect were significant at 1 % level. The maximum oil content was observed for Sutiakhali char soil with N₂₀P₄₀K₄₀ treatment

Objectives:

To see the effect of different levels of N, P and K fertilizers on different soils to obtain high amount of oil.

Methodology:

The experiment was carried out in pots in an Open net house at the Bangladesh Agricultural University Farm area, Mymensingh. Four soil samples representing four different soil locations were collected from Bangladesh Agricultural University Farm, Kuliar char. Sutiakhali char and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Staff Training Institute, Modhupur respectively, at plough depth of 0-15 cm. The characteristics of the soils Soil samples were dried at room temperature. The experiment was replicated 4 times giving a total number of 64 experimental units. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design.
