Sources of Funds and Investment Pattern of Farmers: a Case Study in Mymensingh District

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Micro level study confirmed that the farm households spent most of their income on various important items of family expenditure. Of total investment expenditure, livestock and farm implements received priority in farm households budget. Institutional credit was best used by the smaller farm households. The study so concludes that, the extension of farm credit along with proper supervision might further improve the investment behaviour of the farm households in particular of he loanee farmers.

Objectives:

To determine the source of funds available and investment behaviour of the loanee farmers.

Methodology:

The village Bir Bakhura under Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensinqh district were selected for the present study. Primary level data were collected by survey method through administering interview schedules during the month of June 1982. A sample of 50 farmers out of 230 households was purposively selected for the study. The sample selected was confined to the farmers satisfying the criterion that the individual must be a loanee farmer. Tabular analysis was followed to the set objective.
