The experiment was conducted at Multi Location Testing site (six farmers' field), Atghoria, Pabna during 2010-2011 growing season to find out the comparative performance of Integrated Plant Nutrition Systems (IPNS) based fertilizer management package over only inorganic used fertilizer management under Wheat-Jute- T. Aman cropping pattern in order to increase yield and economic return. Four viz. soil test based inorganic fertilizer dose for high yield goal, Cow dung @ 5 t ha-1 + IPNS basis inorganic fertilizer dose for high yield goal, Cow dung slurry @ 5 t ha-1 + IPNS basis inorganic fertilizer dose for high yield goal and Farmers practice were used as treatment variables. Results revealed that the highest grain yield of wheat (4.61 t ha-1), T. Aman rice (4.71 t ha-1) and fiber yield of jute (3.58 t ha-1) were obtained from Cow dung slurry treated plot followed by cow dung based inorganic fertilizer and soil test based inorganic fertilizer treatment and the lowest from Farmers practice. Considering the whole pattern, it was observed that the highest gross return (Tk. 4,08,800 ha-1, marginal value of product (Tk. 67,200 ha-1) and marginal benefit cost ratio (5.82) were recorded from cow dung slurry treatment. The economic returns of the pattern were found lower in farmers practice.

To investigate the effect of combined use of chemical fertilizers and organic manures in Wheat-Jute-T.Arnan rice cropping pattern regarding yield and economic return.

The experiment was carried out at Multi Location Trial (MLT) site, Atghoria, Pabna, during 2010- 2011 to assess the comparative performance of Integrated Plant Nutrition Systems (IPNS) based fertilizer management package over only inorganic used fertilizer management under Wheat-Jute-T. Arnan cropping pattern in order to increase yield and economic return from a given piece of land through maintaining soil fertility. Before conducting the experiment, initial composite soil samples (0-15 cm depth) were collected from the experimental plots and were analyzed and all nutrient packages was calculated on the basis of soil test value. The experiments were laid out in RCB design with 6 dispersed locations. The unit plot size was 5 m x 6 m. Four nutrient management packages viz. T 1: soil test based inorganic basis fertilizer dose for high yield goal, T 2: Cowdung @ 5 t ha-1+ IPNS basis inorganic fertilizer dose for high yield goal, T 3: Cowdung slurry @ 5 t ha-1+ IPNS basis inorganic fertilizer dose for high yield goal and T 4: Farmers practice were used as treatments. BARI Gom-24, JRO 524 (Nabin) and Binadhan -7 were selected as variety for wheat, jute and T. Aman rice, respectively. Wheat seeds were sown on November 16-22, 2010 maintaining a spacing of 20 cm x 15cm. Fifty percent nitrogen and entire amount of TSP, Gypsum, Zinc sulphate, Boric acid, organic manure and MoP were applied as basal as per treatment specification. Rest fifty percent urea was top-dressed at 18-21 days after sowing (DAS). The crop was harvested after full maturity on March 11-16, 2011. The seeds of jute were broadcasted at the rate of 6 kg ha-1 on 01-04 April, 2011. Crop was harvested on July 03-07, 2010. Twenty five days aged seedlings of T. Aman rice were transplanted on 22 July, 2010. Entire amount of all fertilizers including cow dung and cow dung slurry except urea were applied as basal. Urea was applied in two equal splits at 15 and 35 days after transplantation (DAT) as top dressing. The crop was harvested on November 24, 2010. Intercultural operations viz. weeding, irrigation and insecticide spray were done as and when required in order to support normal plant growth and development. The recorded data were statistically analyzed following Gomez and Gomez (1984). All types of variable cost were recorded to find out the marginal benefit cost ratio (MBCR). Economic analysis with respect to net return was carried out to evaluate the profitability of the treatments.
