The study was carried out to find out the suitable rootstock for maximizing the success of grafting as well as growth and yield in BARI Satkara 1at Citrus Research Station (CRS), BARI, Jaintapur, Sylhet during 2010-2012. Three rootstock viz. Pummelo, Rongpur lime and Rough Lemon were selected for rootstock trial of satkara. A wide variation was observed among the satkara plants grafted on different root stock. In case of plant height and base girth the tallest plant (142.5cm) and widest base girth (6.7cm) was found from the plant grafted on the rough lemon rootstock, while shortest plant (110.5 cm) was found in pummel and the narrowest base girth (6.3 cm) in Rongpur lime. Plants over rough lemon root stock produced maximum brunch (8.5/plant), while plants grafted on Rongpur lime produced minimum (7.6) branches/plant. Plants grafted on Pummelo rootstock produced the bigger leaf (6.5 x 4.5 cm) followed by rough lemon rootstock (6.4 x 4.5 cm). Among the grafted plants of Satkara, plant grafted onto rough lemon rootstock exhibited the excellent growth condition and rest of the rootstock exhibited good growth condition.

The study was carried out to find out the suitable rootstock for maximizing the success of grafting as well as growth and yield in BARI Satkara 1at Citrus Research Station (CRS), BARI, Jaintapur, Sylhet during 2011-2012. Three rootstock viz. Pummelo, Rongpur lime and Rough Lemon were selected for rootstock trial of satkara. Seeds of three different types of rootstocks were directly sown in nursery beds for raising seedlings.  The scion of BARI Satkara 1 grafted onto one year old seedlings of rootstock following cleft grafting method at 2010. During July 2011 two years old grafts of BARI Satkara 1 were planted at experimental field. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The saplings distance was 3 ×3 m. Before planting the pits were fertilized with 10 kg well rotten cow dung, 200g urea, 150 g TSP, 150 g of MoP and left for 15 days. The saplings were irrigated at an interval of 15 days from January to March. Imidachloprid (Imitaf @ 0.25ml/L) was applied to reduce leaf miner infestation when new leaf emerged. Weeding was done regularly so that weeds cannot retard the growth of the sapling. Mulching was done in the winter. Data were recorded on plant height, base girth canopy spreading, number of branches/plant, leaf size and growth condition.

The plants were in vegetative stage and the growth is satisfactory. Among the satkara grafts, seedlings grafted onto rough lemon rootstock exhibited the excellent growth condition as well as maximum plant height and base girth and might be recommended that rough lemon was suitable rootstock for propagation of satkara.
