Study the Effect of Organic Fertilizer (tricho Compost) on Jute Variety BJRI Tossa Pat-4.(ssc.5/2013)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This experiment was conducted at central station Dhaka during the year of 2013 to clarify the ability to Jute production by using tricho compost sole and by integration with chemical fertilizer for the variety of BJRI Tossa Pat-4. The plant height found significantly highest (3.10m) with RDF (chemical fertilizer) (T₈₎. The highest base diameter (16.08mm) found with RDF that was identical with T₄ (Compost 100%+ 50% RD) and T₅ (Compost 100%+ 75% RD)o T7. highest green weight with and without leaves, fibre yield (3.15 t/ha) and stick yield (6.50 t/ha) was obtained significantly highest with the treatment RDF (chemical fertilizer). Sole compost did not response well in fibre production but they produced significant yield increase over control but lower than RDF. When 100% compost used in combination with 50%RD or 75%RD of chemical fertilizer, fibre production increased significantly compare to other treatment except RDF. Among the compost treatments T₄(Compost 100%+ 50% RD) and T₅(Compost 100%+ 75% RD) produced significantly highest fibre and both of them were statistically identical but superior yield obtained by RDF.

Objectives:

To clarify the ability to Jute production by using tricho compost sole and by integration with chemical fertilizer for the variety of BJRI Tossa Pat-4.

Methodology:

A study was under taken to find out the effect of organic fertilizer (Tricho compost) on jute variety BJRI Tossa pat-4 at central station Dhaka during the year of 2013.The experiment was laid out in RCBD by the following treatments combinations with three replications maintaining unit plot size 3.1 m X 3.1 m. The following treatments were used in the experiments: T₁- Control T₅- Compost 100%+ 75% RD T₂- Sole compost (100%) T₆- Sole compost (150%) T₃- Compost 100%+ 25% RD T7- Sole compost (200%) T₄_- Compost 100%+ 50% RD T₈- RDF (chemical fertilizer) Fresh compost and half of the total amounts of N from urea and full amounts of P, K and S were applied from TSP, MoP and Gypsum respectively at the time of sowing as per treatment. The rest half of N from urea was top dressed after 6-7 weeks of sowing. Different cultural practices were done as and when necessary

Achievement/Findings:

Integration of compost with chemical fertilizer is better than control or compost as a sole treatment for Jute production but RDF (chemical fertilizer) is the best for Jute production.
