Two field experiments were conducted in two different AEZ of Bangladesh i.e. AEZ-28 (BRRI Resea rch Field, Gazipur) and AEZ-3 (BRRI , Regional Station (RS) Farm, Rangpur) during Boro 2007 to evaluate the effect of Chook Chook brand organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of rice . Six treatment combinations were tested: T1,= Native fertility ( no fertilizer), T2 = Manufacturer's added close i.e. Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 117-12-30 kg NPK/ha , T3 = Nutrient from inorganic fertilizer as per Manufacturer's recommendation, T4, = Soil test based (STB) fertilizer dose @ 140-20-50-10 kg NPKS/ha, T5 = Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 60% STB fertilizer dose, T6 = Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 80%1 STB fertilizer dose. In AEZ-28 the higher plant height , tiller and panicle were observed with T2 but higher filled grain/panicle, percentage sterility were observed in T5 treatment and higher 1000 grain weight was observed in T4 treatment. The highest tiller and panicle number/m2 were also observed in AEZ-28 with T4, treatment (STB dose). Percent sterility and 1000 grain weight were highest in T3, treatment. About 0.43 and 0.12 t/ha higher yield was obtained with the STB fertilizer dose (T4,) than that of manufacturer's recommended dose (T2,) in BRRI Research Farm, Gazipu r and BRRI RS Farm, Rangpur. The gross return, added return, net-return were higher with STB dose com pared to manufacturer's recommended dose in both Gazizur and Rangpur research site. In both two AEZ the marginal benefit cost ratio was higher with STB dose.

To evaluate the effect of Chook Chook brand organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of rice

Two field experiments were conducted during Baro season, one of which at BRRI farm, Gazipur (AEZ-28) and the other one at BRRI RS Farm, Rangpur (AEZ-3). In each experiment, six treatments were tested. Six treatment combinations were tested where T indicates native fertility or no fertilizer added in the sites, T2 represents manufacturer's dose i.e. Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 117-12-30 kg NPK/ha, T3 shows nutrient from inorganic fertilizer as per man ufacturer's recommendation, T4, means Soil test based (STB) fertilizer dose @ 140-20-50-10 kg NPKS/ha, T5 indicates Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 60% STB fertilizer dose, T6" provides Chook Chook @ 225 kg/ha + 80% STB fertilizer dose. The physico-chemical properties of the soils of the experimental plots at BRRI Research Farm, Gazipur and BRRI Regional Station Farm, Rangpur were studied. Initial soil properties indicates that the soil texture of the BRRI Farm, Gazipur was clay loam whereas the BRRI Farm, Rangpur was sandy loam. The two sites are texturally different. The soil reaction in the BRRI Farm, Gazipur was acidic and on the other hand, the BRRI Farm, Rangpur was slightly acidic. Total nitrogen content in both locations was very low. The available phosphorus, exchangeable K (meq/100g soil), available sulfur was low in the Gazipur sites whereas exchangeable K and available sulfur was low in the Rangpur sites of Tista Meander Floodplain areas. The experiments were laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The sources of nutrients N-P-K-S-Zn were urea, TSP, MP, gypsum and zinc sulfate, respectively. Triple super phosphate, MP, gypsum, zinc sulfate and Chook-Chook brand organic fertilizer were applied at final land preparation. Urea was applied into three equal splits: 1/3rd as basal, 1/3rd at early active tillering stage and the remaining 1/3rd at 5-7 days before panicle initiation stage. BRRI dhan29 was used as test crop in both the experimental  locations. Necessary intercultural operations were done as and when required. At maturity, the crop was harvested from 5m2 area and grain yield was adjusted to 14% moisture. The plant height (cm), tiller (number m2), panicle (number m2), filled grain/panicle, % sterility, 1000 grain weight (g) and grain and straw yields (t/ha) were recorded. The data obtained were statistically analyzed following IRRISTAT version 4.1. Finally economic analyzes were done for added return, net return and marginal benefit cost ratio (MBCR).
