Abstract/ Executive Summary:

To increase the productivity of rice land by integrated fish in rice field, the trial was conducted in four farmers’ field at Barisal FSRD site during 2013-14. Hence, an attempt was initiated to increase the productivity of rice land by integrated fish in rice field. Rice equivalent yield of tested pattern 1 and pattern 2 were 17.09 and 20.58 t/ha respectively which was much higher than existing single T. Aman (2.25 t/ha) pattern. Farmers were very pleased with the production and benefit and showed interest to continue.

Objectives:

To increase the productivity of rice land by integrated fish in rice field.

Methodology:

The trial was conducted in four farmers’ field at Barisal FSRD site during 2013-14. Each farmer was considered as dispersed replication. The unit plot size was 0.12 to 0.16 ha. Date of seeding, transplanting, weeding, fertilization and harvesting as well as yield data were recorded. Liming, fertilization, feeding were done according to DoF recommendation. Seed, fertilizer and insecticide were provided by the project. Labour and other supports were provided by the farmers. Fingerlings and their rearing technologies were provided by the project and feed was provided by the farmers themselves. Feeding were done (rice bran, wheat bran, oil cake, pillet feed) twice daily as supplemental food.
