BRRI Rice Genebank has the mandate to collect, characterize, conserve and utilize the rice germplasm and its sharing with rice researchers, students and any end users with proper authorization and material transfer agreement (MTA). To supply rice germplasm to different researchers at home and abroad as per their demand and to exchange germplasm (if possible) with national/international organizations, a total of 5489 rice germplasm/BRRI developed rice varieties in Aus, Aman and Boro seasons of the respective year were supplied to different users during 2007-10. Among the samples, a total of 3831 germplasm (each must less than 5 g) were supplied for research purpose and 1658 samples (any amount for research/study or other purpose) of BRRI developed rice varieties were supplied during the same reporting time.

To supply rice germplasm to different researchers at home and abroad as per their demand and to exchange germplasm (if possible) with national/international organizations.

Request letter through BRRI authority and necessary MTA will be considered for the shipment of germplasm (maximum 5 g seed for each entry) from BRRI Rice Genebank and as well as the BRRI developed varieties (any amount) from Breeder Seed Unit. It needs to be mentioned here that all the germplasm/seed-samples supply and exchange records were maintained and were published in the respective BRRI Annual Internal Research Review Workshop and other reports for proper documentation.

A total of 1597, 2589 and 1303 rice germplasm /BRRI developed rice varieties in Aus, Aman and Boro seasons of the respective year were supplied to different users during 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10, respectively. Again among the samples, 1393, 1752 and 686 germplasm were supplied for research purpose and 204, 837 and 617 samples of BRRI developed rice varieties were supplied for studies or other purpose during 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10, respectively. On the other hand, scientific information viz. reports, news, journal papers, seminar and workshop papers etc. of the supplied germplasm were collected from the respective researchers /organizations for ready reference.
