Leadership ability always determines effectiveness and the potential future impact of organization. The success of leadership practices depends on not only leader’s qualities but also external forces in the organization. Moreover, organizations are now swept by dizzy technology, faster dynamism and high vulnerability. This study has tried to find out influential factors that affect the success of leadership practices in new millennium. A sample of 45 executives from 15 organizations were studied through two set of questionnaires and assimilated to come to findings about factors affecting success of leadership practices in the 21st century multidimensional organizations. Six factors were identified from the study such as team design and functioning, informalities, formalities, individual and organizational cultures, leader’s qualities and type of work. These factors explain 73% of total variance. Again, value of adjusted R square of these six factors on leadership success is 67.7%, which is a strong model fit.  The implication of this study is that team design & functioning along with leader’s individual quality (.586 and .572) is positively correlated with leadership success the most while formal relationship (.365) the least.

1.To find out responsible factors contributing to the success of leadership in the organization of Bangladesh.

2.To develop regression model with those contributing factors to know explained variation on dependent variable (leadership success).   

This study used both primary and secondary sources of data. Secondary sources were explored such as published articles, books, newspapers, internet resources. Primary data were collected through questionnaire. A class of 25 MBA students was used for data collection at two different times for two questionnaires. The time lag between first and second set of questionnaire was two months and the respondents were the same. There were two sets of questionnaire. The first set of questionnaire consisting of 15 questions representing 15 variables was administered.  Respondents responded to rate their perception on a five points multiple rating scale. The lowest point in the scale was “1” which indicated “strongly disagree” and the highest point was “5” which indicated “Strongly Agree”. Besides, 2, 3 and 4 on the scale indicated as ‘Disagree’, ‘Neutral’ and ‘Agree’ respectively. The second set of questionnaire was consisting of 7 questions representing 6 factors found from factor analysis based on previous questionnaire data set. The other question was on leadership success. These 6 questions were asked to rate on level of influence meaning to ‘1’ as lowest point to ‘5’ as highest point on leadership success. The last question was on overall leadership success in same scale meaning to ‘1’ as lowest point to ‘5’ as highest point. Stratified convenient sampling method was used to collect primary data for the survey. Responses from a total of 45 people working in management level in 15 different organizations across dominant industries of the Dhaka city namely banking and financial organizations, NGOs, education, IT and manufacturing organization.SPSS was used to analyze data collected through questionnaire. Factor analysis was done on the 15 variables and ratings where there was a scale indicating 1-5 points, to find out the factors that are representing respondents’ ratings on issues affecting leadership success.

This study was done on organizational people in different management levels of various organizations. Their responses on numerous variables relevant to leadership practices and successes were gauged to understand what factors affect the successful implementation of leadership style in dynamic organization and thereby giving an overall picture of the private sector of the country.Firstly, six factors representing variables were identified from the study, which account for 73.18% of the variance in the entire set of response data, which can be considered almost a good fit to the data. Secondly, the regression model produces Adjusted R square value as .677 or. It means that the model is capable to explain 67.7% variation of dependent variable (leadership success) by those independent variables.
