The experiment was conducted on farmer's field in the Farming System Research and Development site, Goyeshpur, Pabna during 2000-01 to 2002-03 in irrigated high land environment. The experimental ite was in Gopalpur soil series belonging to the High Ganges River Floodplain Soils (AEZ 11). The soil had pH 8.14, organic matter 2.97%, total N 0.15%, P (µg/g soil) 5.26, exchangeable K (meq/100g soil) 0.21. available S (µg/g soil) 19.54, Zn (µg/g soil) 0.65 and B (µg/g soil) 0.23 representing the soil status as slightly alkaline, medium, low, very low, medium, medium, low and low respectively. Fourteen fertilizer combinations with 4 levels of N, P, K and S were selected for the crops. The rates of fertilizer for wheat were N (0,70, 100 and 130 kg ha-1 ), P (0, 20, 30 and 40 kg ha-1), K (0, 30, 50 and 70 kg ha-1) and S (0, 15,25 and 35 kg ha-1) and for T. aman rice were N (0,56, 80 and 104 kg ha-1 ), P (0, 15, 20 and 25 kg ha-1), K (0, 15, 20 and 25 kg ha-1), and S ( 0, 10, 15 and 20 kg ha-1) as urea, triple super phosphate, muriate of potash and gypsum, respectively. The recommended dose of Zn and B were applied in all treatments of wheat crop only @2.0 and 0.5 kg ha as zinc oxide and borax, respectively. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block (RCB) design with four dispersed replications. The selected land of each replication divided into two equal blocks and then one block was again divided into fourteen unit plot (5 mx3 m) for assigning fourteen treatments of wheat and the other one block was used for farmers practice during T. aman rice season. Wheat seed was sown on first week of December in line (20 cm apart) with continuous seeding at the rate of 120 kg h-1 and harvested on last week of March during three consecutive years. Entire quantities of all fertilizers except N were applied as basal during the final land preparation. Two third of N wa applied as basal and one third as top dress at 17-21 days after sowing followed by irrigation. T. aman rice was transplanted on last week of July and harvested on last week of November during the consecutive years. Entire quantities of all fertilizers except N were applied during final land preparation. Nitrogen was applied in three equal splits as top dress at 20, 35 and 45 days after planting (DAP). Other intercultural operations and plant protection measures were taken when required. Collected data were analyzed statistically and dominance analyses for different treatments.
