Based on D2 analysis the varieties were grouped into six clusters ranging from 18 to 1. The inter cluster distances in all of the cases was larger than the intra cluster distance indicating that more diversity were presented among genotypes of distinct clusters. The intra- and inter-cluster distances ranged from 0.2615 in cluster VI to 0.6636 in cluster III and between cluster I and IV (12.485) to cluster III and IV (3.998), respectively. The highest cluster means for yield (12.10 g), filled grain panicle-1 (93.31) and grain breath (2.7) were obtained from cluster VI. The highest plant height (118.33 cm), flag leaf area (27.71 cm2), unfilled grain panicle-1 (58.53), harvest index (20.56) and lowest growth duration (133) were found in cluster I. The highest mean value for panicle length (26.36 cm), grain length (9.73 mm) and TGW (23.76g) were found in cluster V. The crosses between the genotypes/parents of cluster VI and cluster I or cluster VI and cluster V would exhibit higher heterosis with maximum good characters.

To estimate genetic variability, character associations and genetic relationships of T. Aman rice germplasm.

A total of 40 T. Aman rice varieties with same name viz. Sadajira Tapl 247, Sadajira Tapl 266, Sadajira Tapl 267, Sadajira Tapl 268, Sadajira Tapl 269, Sadajira Tapl 270, Sadajira Tapl 271, Sadajira Tapl 272, Sadajira Tapl 273, Sadajira Tapl 277, Sadajira Tapl 279, Sadajira Tapl 280, Sadajira Tapl 282, Sadajira Tapl 283, Sadajira Tapl 284, Sadajira Tapl 285, Sadajira Tapl 286, Sadajira Tapl 287, Sadajira Tapl 288, Sadajira Tapl 289, Sadajira Tapl 291, Sadajira Tapl 292, Sadajira Tapl 294, Sadajira Tapl 295, Sadajira Tapl 296,  Sadajira Tapl 297, Sadajira Tapl 299, Sadajira Tapl 300, Sadajira Tapl 302, Sadajira Tapl 304, Sadajira Tapl 306, Sadajira Tapl 307, Sadajira Tapl 310, Sadajira Tapl 311, Sadajira Tapl 312, Sadajira Tapl 313, Sadajira Tapl 314, Sadajira Tapl 315, Sadajira Tapl 316, Sadajira Tapl 317 collected from different districts of Bangladesh were grown under transplanted condition with three replications using one row of 5.4 m long each per entry and single seedling per hill with a spacing of  25 X 20 cm between rows and plants, respectively. Fertilizers were applied @ 80:60:40 kg NPK/ha. Control measures for pests, diseases and weed were taken whenever necessary. Thirteen morpho-agronomic and yield contributing characters viz. flag leaf length (cm), flag leaf width (cm), plant height (cm), days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, panicle length (cm), filled grains/panicle, unfilled grains/panicle, grain length (mm), grain breadth (mm), length-breath ratio, 1000 grain weight (g) and yield/hill (g) were recorded to study the genetic diversity. Mahalonobis’ D2 and Canonical Vector Analysis methods were used to group the varieties based on their yield contributing and ancillaries characters using GENSTAT 5.13 program in computer.

Based on D2 analysis, maximum entries (18) were grouped into the cluster VI followed by 10 in cluster V, 5 in cluster III and IV. The cluster I and II contained the lowest (1) number of genotypes. The D2 value ranged from 3.998 to 12.485 indicating a high degree of genetic diversity. Cluster IV showed maximum (12.485) distance with cluster I, along with moderate D2 values with all other clusters suggesting wide diversity between IV and the genotypes in the rest of the clusters, which could be used as parents in hybridization program for getting transgressive segregants. Similarly, moderated inter cluster distances were observed in cluster II, III and VI, with most of the clusters. The minimum inter cluster divergence was observed between IV and III (3.998) followed by IV and VI (4.019) and V and VI (4.306) indicating that the genotypes of these clusters were genetically more closed than that of other clusters. Therefore, more emphasis should be given on the genotypes under cluster I, cluster VI and cluster V for future breeding program.
