Effect of Roguing of Infected Tillers on Subsequent Progress of Bakanae and Yield

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted in the farmer's field and the objective of this work was to know the rouging effect on yield and yield parameter . Three naturally bakanae infected rice fields were selected and each field was divided into two equal blocks. All bakanae infected tillers were removed from one block. Infected tiller was not removed from another block. The results on the effect of rouging of infected tillers on subsequent progress of bakanae and grain yield revealed that incidence of infected hills and tiller infection was lower in plot, where rouging was done. Other yield parameter also significantly influenced by the rouging of bakanae infected tillers. But removing of bakanae infected tiller has little effect on increasing yield.

Objectives:

To know the rouging effect of bakanae tiller on yield and yield parameter .

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted in the farmer's field at Habiganj District. Three bakanae infected rice fields of BRRI dhan29 were selected at Jagatpur village under Habiganj district during Boro 2011. Each field considered as one replication. Disease incidence was recorded from each field. Then each field was divided into two equal blocks separated by levee. All bakanae infected tillers were removed with their roots from one block and roguing of infected tillers continued up to maximum tillering stage. Infected tiller was not removed from another block and number of infected tiller/hill in the block was recorded. Data were subjected to statistical analysis by using paired t-test technique.

Achievement/Findings:
