De-worming of Cattle and Goat

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Different kinds of parasites are most common cause of decreasing the health status and the poor production of livestock. It also decreases the immunity of animal and increases the probability of disease incidence that ultimately hampers the optimum production of animals. Routine de-worming program is an essential tool for getting the optimum production performance of livestock. Base line survey indicates that the farmers’ were ignorant about de-worming of livestock. They did not know the impact of parasites clearly. The health status of the cattle and goats were very cathectic. The skin was rough and different kind of lice and mites were visible in the skin. The animals were suffered from anorexia. The body weight and the appearance were not satisfactory according to age and size of the animals. After de-worming, animal’s skin appears smooth and the growth rate was good.

Objectives:

To get the optimum production performance of livestock.

Methodology:

Routine de-worming program is an essential tool for getting the optimum production performance of livestock. Base line survey indicates that the farmers’ were ignorant about de-worming of livestock. They did not know the impact of parasites clearly. The health status of the cattle and goats were very cathectic. The skin was rough and different kind of lice and mites were visible in the skin. The animals were suffered from anorexia. The body weight and the appearance were not satisfactory according to age and size of the animals. The cattle and goat of Chakhar and Boliarkathi village were de-wormed using different kinds of anthelmintic. In Chakhar village, a total of 145 cattle and 109 goats were de-wormed. In Boliarkathi village, a total of 200 cattle and 80 goats were de-wormed under de-worming program.

Achievement/Findings:

After de-worming, animal’s skin appears smooth and the growth rate was good. Farmers’ were interested about de-worming and availability of related drugs.
