The field study was conducted at Oilseed Research Centre BARI, Gazipur, RARS, with BARI Chinabadam 8 during rabi 2011-2012. The experiment was designed in RCB with 3 replications where plot size was 2.5m x 2m. The line to line and plant to plant spacing was 40 cm x 10 cm, respectively. The treatments were: T1 Control, T2 Seed treatment with Vitavax 200 (0.2%), T3 Seed treatment with Trichoderma spore, T4  Seed treatment with Trichoderma leachate, T5 Soil treatment with Trichoderma bio-fungicide, T6 Soil treatment with Trichoderma leachates, T7 Soil treatment with Tricho-compost. All the treatment gave significant reduction of foot rot disease and the highest mortality reduction was recorded on treatment where seeds were treated with Vitavax-200 (T2) followed by seed treatment with Trichoderma spore suspension (T3).

The present study was, therefore undertaken to test the efficacy of Trichoderma-based bio-fungicide against the foot rot (Sclerotium rolfsii) disease of groundnut.

 

The field study was conducted at Oilseed Research Centre BARI, Gazipur, RARS, with BARI Chinabadam 8 during rabi 2011-2012. The experiment was designed in RCB with 3 replications where plot size was 2.5m x 2m. The line to line and plant to plant spacing was 40 cm x 10 cm, respectively. The treatments were: T1 Control, T2 Seed treatment with Vitavax 200 (0.2%), T3 Seed treatment with Trichoderma spore, T4  Seed treatment with Trichoderma leachate, T5 Soil treatment with Trichoderma bio-fungicide, T6 Soil treatment with Trichoderma leachates, T7 Soil treatment with Tricho-compost. The crop was allowed to grow under natural infection condition. Irrigation and other cultural practices were done as and when necessary. The foot rot incidence was recorded through regular monitoring and counting up to crop maturity. For recording data on yield contributing characters, 10 plants in each plot were randomly selected and tagged and harvest separately. Data on number of nut/plant, and nut weight per plant were recorded. nut yield/plot and that of per hectare were also recorded.  The recorded data were analyzed statistically to find out the level of significance and the variations among the respective data were compared following least significant difference at 5% level.

All the treatment gave significant reduction of foot rot disease which ranged 25 -67% and the highest mortality reduction was recorded on treatment where seeds were treated with Vitavax-200 (T2) followed by seed treatment with Trichoderma spore suspension (T3), seed treatment with Trichoderma leachate (T4), Soil treatment with Trichoderma leachate (T6) and soil amendment with Tricho-composed (T7). Soil application of Trichoderma bio-fungicide was found less effective where mortality reduction was only 25%). For better establishment of antagonistic fungus to soil is need to maintain soil moisture al least field condition The less effectiveness of Trichoderma bio-fungicide as soil application might be due low soil moisture in the field.
