Determination of Management Practice in Controlling White Mould of Mustard.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at ARS, Alamnagar, Rangpur during 2011-2012 rabi season. Seeds of BARI Sarisa 14 were sown in 2 m x 2.5 m plot at 40 x 10 cm spacing. The design was RCB with three replications. Two fungicides Rovral (0.2%) and Bavistin (0.1%) were sprayed at 5 growth stages at different combination namely, seedling stage (T₁), seedling + vegetative stages (T₂), seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering stages (T₃), seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering + 80% flowering stages (T₄), seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering + 80% flowering + grain filing stages (T₅) and control (T₆). The fungicide Rovral was found more effective against the disease with increased seed yield. The highest disease reduction with maximum per hectare seed yield were obtained when Rovral was sprayed at seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering stages

Objectives:

The present investigation was therefore, been undertaken to select the proper time and stage of fungicide application to reduce the white Mould of Mustard severity.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at ARS, Alamnagar, Rangpur during 2011-2012 rabi season. Seeds of BARI Sarisa 14 was sown in 2 m x 2.5 m plot at 40 x 10 cm spacing. The design was RCB with three replications. Block to block and plot to plot distance was 1.5m and 1 m, respectively. The crop was allowed to grow under natural condition. Irrigation and other cultural practices were done as and when necessary. Two fungicides Rovral (0.2%) and Bavistin (0.1%) were sprayed at 5 growth stages at different combination namely, seedling stage (T₁), seedling + vegetative stages (T₂), seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering stages (T₃), seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering + 80% flowering stages (T₄₎, seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering + 80% flowering + grain filing stages (T₅) and control (T₆). Fungicides were sprayed at 12 days interval. The incidence and severity of diseases were recorded according to Bakr et al. (2010). Yield. (t/ha) data was computed on the basis of plot yield. The recorded data were analyzed statistically to find out the level of significance and the variations among the respective data were compared following least significant difference at 5% level.

Achievement/Findings:

The fungicide Rovral was found more effective against the disease with increased seed yield. The highest disease reduction with maximum per hectare seed yield were obtained when Rovral was sprayed at seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering stages followed by seedling + vegetative + 50% flowering + 80% flowering stages, respectively. However, all the treatment except only seedling stage spray gave significant disease reduction with significant higher yield. Rovral also had better affect on yield contributing characters and higher number of pod per plant and seed per pod were obtained from Rovral sprayed experiment and the highest number of pod and per pod seed were recorded from treatments T₃, T₄ and T₅ and the highest thousand seed weight was also obtained from T₃_, T₄ and T₅ treatment.
