Mangrove Forestry in Bangladesh

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This book refers to entire mangrove ecosystem with special emphasis on management of forests and silvicultural aspects. Mangrove is a unique ecosystem which is adapted to the peculiarity of the tidal system. The management and conservation of the forest is interrelated with other resources. So Scientific management of mangrove forest is wanting for the naturalists and forest managers. Sundarbans consists more natural resources both floral and faunal, biotic, abiotic and aquatic resources. Species composition and their distribution economic importance also be written in this excellent book.

Long term research experience and field observation and information from available literature review help him to write this book. Considering the lacking of related literatures and books the author inspired to write the books for the forestry students, teachers and researchers, tourists and visitors. Phenological features of the mangrove species, their distribution, economic importance, management strategies and other factors were mentioned in this book. Edaphic factors and ecological stresses were described typically.

Faunal interaction with the floral species also be distinguished. Wildlife management and tourism, forest regeneration, harvesting of the natural resources are concerned with mangroves text book for the forestry students.Thus the innovation would help to fulfill the requirement of the resource personnel as well as students based knowledge.
