This study was conducted to determine the efficacy of Neem (N) leaves, Turmeric (T) and Cinnamon (C) i.e. NTC extract as a growth promoter in broilers. A total of 20 day old broiler chicks were purchased from Kazi Farms and after seven days divided into two groups A and B. No vaccination schedule was practiced and no antibiotics were added in ration. The A group was not supplemented with NTC extract in drinking water. The B group was supplemented with NTC extract @ 1ml/litre in drinking water. Weekly observations were recorded for live body weight gain up to 6th weeks and blood test was performed at 21st and 42nd days age of broiler to find out hematological changes between control A and treated B group. The FCR value in Group A was 2.30 and in group B was 2.12 as a result it indicated that NTC extract played vital role in body weight gain and protected mortality in Group B. Production of broilers in treated group B was economic than control group. The treatment of group B recorded statistically non- significant for live body weight at 1st and 2nd weeks than that of control group A but found statistically significant at 3rd (p<0.01),4th (P<0.05) and 5th (P<0.01) weeks of age. The cost of production and economic study was carried out and it was observed that in control group net profit was Tk. 39.20/- and in the treatment group was Tk. 51.20/-. It is concluded that profit gain is more in NTC extract treated group than that of control group.

To evaluate the growth performance of broiler supplemented with neem leaves, turmeric and cinnamon extract.

Mature and disease free neem leaves were collected from BAU campus. Turmeric and Cinnamon were purchased from K. R. market, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Ten (10) g neem leaves washed and added with 10g turmeric and 10g cinnamon in 4 liters distilled water. The broiler chicks were kept in the same compartment for 7 days and brooding (38-420C) temperature were correctly maintained. The litter and rations management were done very carefully and properly. After 7 days of acclimatization all the 20 broiler chicks were randomly divided into 2 equal groups (A and B) for assessing the efficacy of NTC extracts as growth promoter on broilers. Chicks of group ‘A’: were kept as control and were not treated. Chicks of group ‘B’: were treated with NTC extracts @ 1 ml/litre added in drinking water for consecutive five weeks. i) The effect of the NTC extract on body weight, feed consumption and water consumption was recorded before and during administration of treatment. ii) Chickens under trial and control groups were weighed with Electric weighing machine. The weight of each chicken was taken weekly. The average of these weights was calculated and recorded. All the chicks of treated and control groups were closely observed and mean live weight gain of each group of Chickens on 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th, 35th and 42th days, were recorded. Blood samples were collected from wing vein of chicken of both control and treated groups at 21st and 42nd days to study the effect of the NTC extract and the following parameters were observed: (a) Total Erythrocyte count (TEC), (b) Hemoglobin estimation (Hb), (c) Packed Cell Volume (PCV) and (d) Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR). For the research purpose Total Erythrocyte Count (TEC), Hemoglobin concentrations (Hb), Packed Cell Volume (PCV) and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) was determined.

The treatment group B recorded statistically significant (p<0.05) increase for live body weight than that of control group A. Net live weight gain was increased in NTC treated group (1780±63.04g) than control group (1680±58.02g) and profit/ Kg live broiler was Tk. 28.76 in treatment group and in control group was Tk. 23.33. This research work shows that continuous treatment with NTC extract produced a significant (p<0.05) increase in live body weight but there is no significant change on blood parameters.
