The study was conducted to identify the cost, return and major management problems of the recommended irrigated MV rice production during the Aus, Aman and Boro season at BRRI Farm, Gazipur in 1995. During the Boro season BR3, BR14, BR18, BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29 were cultivated.BR14, BR21, BR24, BR26 and BRRI dhan27 were grown during the Aus Season and BR11, BR22, BR23, BR25, BRRI dhan30, BRRI dhan31, BRRI dhan32 and Nizersail in the T. Aman season. The study showed that the total cultivation cost was higher during the Boro season followed by the T. Aman and T. Aus cultivation . During the Boro season BR3 yielded higher (5.33 t/ha) followed by BR16 (4.60 t/ha). The most profitable variety during the Boro season was BRRI dhan29 (BCR 2.54) followed by BR3 (BCR 2.46). During the Aus season, BR14 yielded highest (4.30t/ha) with a BCR2.84 which was followed by BRRI dhan27(3.53 t/ha, BCR 2.42). BR21 yielded lowest (2.45 t/ha, BCR 1.72). During the T, Aman season the highest BCR was obtained from BR11 (3.19 ) with a yield of 5.48 t/ha followed by BRRI dhan32 (5.26 t/ha, BCR 3.01). The Nizersail yielded lowest (2.81 t/ha) with a BCR of 1.76. The study revealed that the yield and the benefit from rice cultivation were higher during the T. Aman season followed by the Boro and Aus season. The case of crop management during the T. Aman season specially at harvesting time and higher market price of rice grains might have a contributed of this higher yield and BCR.

Aman season. Experiments were laid out in a RCB design with three replications following the  recommended cultural practices. Supplemental irrigation was given as when necessary. All the operational and material cost were recorded for cost computation. The entire plot was harvested and the yield was recorded per hectare yield computation. The per hectare return was calculated by multiplying grain yield hectare by TK. 750/kg. The local market price for Boro and Aus paddy, and at TK. 800/kg for T. Aman paddy. The land price interest on capital and cost for seedbed preparation were not considered for cost computation. The price of the rice straw was not included with the total outturn.

The cost and return of irrigated MV rice cultivation showed that the total cultivation cost varied during different seasons and for different varieties. The study showed that the total cost was higher in the Boro season followed by T. Aman and T. Aus season. The cost and return of irrigated MV rice cultivation showed that the total cultivation cost varied during different seasons and for different varieties. The study showed that the total cost was higher in the Boro season followed by T. Aman and T. Aus season. During the Boro season, among the varieties BR3, BR14, BR18, BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29, BR3 yielded highest (5.33 t/ha) followed by BR16 (5.08 t/ha), BRRI dhan28 yielded lowest. The most profitable variety during the Boro season was BRRI dhan29 (BCR 2.54) followed by BR3 (BCR 2.46). During the Aus season, BR14 yielded highest (4.30 t/ha) with a BCR of 2.84 which was followed by BRRI dhan27 (3.53 t/ha, BCR 2.42). BR21 yielded lowest (2.45 t/ha, BCR 1.72).
