Determination of Seeding Interval of a and R Line for Hybrid Seed Production

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Seeding interval is very important between A and R lines for proper seed production. Commercial viability of hybrid rice seed production depend on maintaining actual duration interval between A and R lines. From this study we can determine actual difference between A and R lines. Seeding intervals of 24, 26 & 11 days were found suitable for better synchronization between BRRI1A/BR127R, BRRI1A/BR168R and IR58025A/BR827R hybrid combinations, respectively. Flowering interval between A & R lines is very important to produce F₁ seed otherwise synchronization of flowering between A & R line not possible. With this view, this experiment was conducted

Objectives:

Determination the seeding interval of A B and R lines for adjustment of proper synchronization

Methodology:

Six materials (BRRI IA/B, IR58025A/B, BR827R, and BR168R) were grown as parental material. All materials were sown on three different dates at seven days interval. Twenty-one days old seedlings of each material were transplanted into 10 m² plot at a spacing of 20 cm x 15 cm in three different dates. Fertilizers @ 150:100:70:60:10 kg/ha urea, TSP, MP, gypsum and zinc were applied. Intercultural operations, irrigation, and rouging were done properly.
