Multilocation Trial of Promising Hybrids During Boro Seasons of 2010-11

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Multilocation trials present actual adaptability of selected hybrids over environment. Before final submission a selected hybrid variety to seed certification agency to evaluate yield performance multilocation testing is necessary. It reflects the actual varietal performance across the environment. Genotype and environment interaction of a variety express its adaptability to a particular location. To boost up confidence not only for yield but also disease reaction and other desired characters multilocation trials give a clear view of variety selection justification. Among the test hybrids II32A/BR12R (9.2 t/ha) produced the highest yield followed by BR10A/BR12R (9.0 t/ha) at Comilla. At Barisal the check BRRI hybrid dhan3 gave highest (10.15 t/ha) yield. Average yield advantage of the test hybrids were not observed at acceptable level. Therefore, none the hybrid was selected for further evaluation.

Objectives:

To study the adaptability and yield potentiality of the identified hybrids.

Methodology:

Six promising hybrids were evaluated in the Headquarter and three regional stations with BRRI dhan28, BRRI dhan29, BRRI hybrid dhan2, and BRRI hybrid dhan3 as check. Thirty days old seedlings were transplanted in 30m² sized plot following RCB design with 3 replications using single seedling per hill. Spacing was 20 x 15 cm. Fertilizers were applied @ of 270:130:120:70:10 kg/ha Urea, TSP, MP, Gypsum and ZnSO₄, respectively.

Achievement/Findings:

Over all yield performance of ten entries was better at Comilla followed by Barisal station.
