This study was undertaken at BRRI Gazipur in Boro season during 2006-07.The objective of this study was to selection of promising hybrids. Sixty nine (69) hybrids were evaluated with BRRI dhan28, BRRI dhan29 and BRRI hybrid dhan1 as check.Thirty days old seedlings were transplanted in 2 m2 area plot following RCB design with 3 replications using single seedling/hill.

Selection of promising hybrids lines to  develop varieties

This study was undertaken at BRRI Gazipur in Boro season during 2006-07. Sixty nine (69) hybrids were evaluated with BRRI dhan 28, BRRIdhan 29 and BRRI hybrid dhan 1 as check.Thirty days old seedlings were transplanted in 2 m2 area plot following RCB design with 3 replications using single seedling/hill. Spacing was 20cm x 15 cm. Fertilizers @ of 270-130-120-70-10 kg/ha Urea-TSP-MP-Gypsum -ZnSO4, respectively were applied.

Two hybrid combinations (IR 68897A / BR 10 R and Jin 23 A / IR 69702-48-2-2R) gave 1.6 t/ha yield advantage over BRRI dhan 28 with similar growth duration. BRRI 10A/ BR 168R, BRRI 10A /IR72887-38-1-3-2R, BRRI10A /IR65482-7-216-1-2R gave more than 2 t/ha and IR68888A/BR736R & BRRI10A / BRRI 10 R gave 1.7 t/ha yield advantage over BRRI dhan 29 with same growth duration .
