Evaluation of experiment hybrids for T Aman season was made with a view to select promising hybrids under rainfed condition. Normally hybrids are performing well under irrigated dry season or Boro season. It requires excess water for irrigation but in the northern part of Bangladesh due to heavy irrigation providing in Boro season water table goes down. In these aspects, selections of hybrids that are performing well in rainfed condition are very important. A total of 84 experimental hybrids were evaluated under observation trial. Eleven hybrids out of 84 were found yield advantage ranges from 1.1 to 2.0 t/ha over 3 conventional checks. The hybrid combination BR10A/ LV020 showed highest (2.0 & 1.90 t/ha) followed by BR 1A/ BR13R (1.8 &1.7 t/ha) yield advantage over BRRI dhan39 & BRRI dhan33 respectively with similar growth duration. Another hybrid combination BR9A/BR168R possessed 1.2 t/ha higher yield over BRRI dhan31 with similar growth duration.

Selection of promising hybrids from test entries

 

Eighty four (84) experimental hybrids were evaluated with BRRI dhan31, BRRI dhan33 and BRRI dhan39 as check .Twenty one day old seedlings were transplanted in 2m2 area plot following augmented in RCB design using single seedling /hill. Spacing was 20 cm x 15 cm. Fertilizers @ 150:100:70:60:10 kg/ha Urea, TSP, MP, gypsum and ZnSO4 respectively were applied.  Irrigation was supplied as requirement and maintained proper cultural practices.
