Multilocation Trial of Promising Hybrids During Boro Season of 2009-2010

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Multi location trials considered as the best selection trials of promising hybrids. It reflects the proper genotype and environment effects of a variety. The variety which performs well under different locations and environment is the best one and perform better in future. BR1A/BR12R and BR10A/BR12R gave yield advantage by 1.38 to 2.31 t/ha and 0.96 to 2.13 t/ha respectively over check BRRI dhan28 with apparently similar growth duration. Another combination BR10A/BR13R showed yield advantage similar to the combinations but in Comilla it out yielded 8.22 t/ha where BRRI dhan28 was 5.66 t/ha.

Objectives:

To study the adaptability and yield potentiality of the identified hybrids.

Methodology:

Eight promising hybrids were evaluated both in BRRI head quarter and four regional stations (Barisal, Comilla, Rangpur and Satkhira) with BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29 as check. Thirty days old seedlings were transplanted in 30m² sized plot following RCB design with 3 replications using single seedling per hill. Spacing were 20 cm x 15 cm. Fertilizers were applied @ of 270:130:120:70:10 kg/ha Urea, TSP, MP, gypsum and ZnSO₄ respectively.
