Effect of Different Levels of Potassium on Growth and Yield of Promising Hybrids in Compare to Recommended BRRI Varieties

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This study was carried out at BRRI Gazipur in Aman season during 2006. The objective of this study was tofind out the suitable level of potassium on the yield of promising hybrids.Two promising hybrids (BRRI 1A/BR827R & BRRI 1A/BR168R) along with BRRI dhan 30 & BRRI dhan34 were transplanted using 38 days old seedlings. BRRI 1A/BR827R @ 60 kg/ha potassium gave the highest yield (4.78ton/ha) where BRRI 1A/BR168R gave the highest yield (5.04 t/ha) when potassium was applied @ 40 kg/ha. Based on the result of the trial it could be concluded that potassium fertilizer application in between 40-60 kg/ha may be optimum dose for higher yield of BRRI 1A/BR827R & BRRI 1A/BR168R.

Methodology:

This study was undertaken at BRRI Gazipur in Aman season during 2006. The objective of this study was to find out the suitable level of potassium on the yield of promising hybrids.Two promising hybrids (BRRI 1A/BR827R & BRRI 1A/BR168R) along with BRRI dhan30 & BRRI dhan34 were transplanted using 38 days old seedlings. RCB design using single seedling per hill at a spacing of 20 × 15 cm.Fertilizer dose: 0, 20, 40, 60 & 80 K/ha, N, P, S & Zn were applied on STB estimated at land preparation. Water, insects & pest management were done when it was required.crop was harvested when grain maturity in 80% and yield adjusted from 14% moisture.
