Tissue culture derived lines need to be evaluated before advancing to observational and other field trials. This allows selection of the desirable materials and reduction of the work load. During T. Aman/2012, 18 plants were selected and 115 homozygous lines were bulked from 204 pedigree lines. From Boro/12-13, 268 plants were selected and 27 homozygous lines were bulked from 624 pedigree lines. All the selected materials will be evaluated in the following season under respective trials.

To select the best progenies for further evaluation.
 

A total of 204 lines were grown in T. Aman/12 and 624 lines were grown in Boro/12-13 season. Each progeny was grown in a 5.4 m single row using single seedling/hill at 20 × 15cm spacing. Standard checks were planted after every 10th row. Fertilizer was applied at 120:25:40:10:4 of N, P, K, S, Zn Kg/ha, respectively, and standard agronomic practices were followed throughout the growing period.
