Homozygous materials are evaluated for their agronomic traits to check the adaptability under prevailing condition. In the beginning it is not possible to conduct large plot yield trial because of huge number of candidate lines. Therefore, four-line trial (observational trail) was conducted to select the superior genotypes. During T.Aman/08 53 advanced breeding materials were grown with 3 standards checks for observational trials. Twelve materials  were selected depending on the duration and comparable yield with checks. During Boro/08-09 season, seven materials were evaluated with two standard checks to observe the growth duration and yield performance. Four materials were selected with comparable yield.

To select agronomically desirable and high yield potential materials.

A total of fifty three advance breeding materials were grown in T. Aman /08 with three standard checks viz BRRI dhan11, BRRI dhan31 and BRRI dhan32 for observational trial. Seven selected breeding materials from Boro/07-08 were grown in boro/08-09 season for observational trials with two standard checks (BRRI dhan28 and BRRI dhan29). Each progeny was grown in a 5.4m × 4 rows using single seedling/hill. Fertilizer was applied at 120:25:40:10:4 of NPKSZn kg/ha and standard agronomic practices were followed.
