This study was conducted at BRRI Gazipur in T. Aman season. The aim of this study was to develop and release of high yield potential rice variety for tidal wet land condition in T. Aman season. National Seed Board of Bangladesh has approved the recommendation of technical committee to release the proposed line BR6110-10-1-2 as BRRI dhan44 for T. Aman season in 2005. Plant height of the variety is 130 cm with 145 days growth duration. Average yield is about 5.5 t/ha and grain size is bold.

To develop high yield potential and tolerance to lodging in tidal wet land condition for T Aman season

This study was conducted at BRRI Gazipur in T. Aman season. This variety was developed through hybridization. It is BR line with pedigree BR6110-10-1-2 (BRRI dhan30/BRRI dhan31). After fixation of the genotype, several experiments i. e. Observational Trial (OT), Preliminary Yield Trial (PYT), Secondary Yield Trial (SYT) and Regional Yield Trials (SYT) were conducted under on-farm and on-stations. Advanced Line Adaptive Research Trial (ALART) was conducted to evaluate of promising breeding lines for their adaptability in different agro-ecological conditions for releasing as variety (s). Finally the Proposed Variety Trial (PVT) was done for On-farm evaluation of proposed line by the NSB team for the recommendation of release as a new variety. The field evaluation team of the National Seed Board (NSB) compared the performance of this genotype with that of BR11. The NSB has approved to release the proposed line BR6110-10-1-2 as variety.

The variety BRRI dhan44 is recommended for cultivation in T. Aman season and especially in tidal prone areas of Bangladesh.
