Impact of Mv Rice Technology

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

In order to attain self-sufficiency in food grain and raise the income of the farmer ,attention was given to enhance the adoption MV rice technologies.Present study was undertaken to determine the extent of differences in farm income distribution due to the adoption of MV rice technology and the differences in farmers income distribution under different production environment.The study used survey data from primary sources which were collected from the sample farmer through direct interview method using predesigned questionnaire . Collected data were analyzed using simple statistical tools .The findings indicated that the adoption of modern technology has provided a higher benefit to end-users compared to the local technology. Results indicated that farmers under favorable environments obtained higher yields in all the seasons from all varieties compared to their counterparts under un-favorable environments. Farmers of favorable areas earned around three times higher income than unfavorable areas due to less risk of rice production. The use of modern technology also increased the employment opportunity to rural laborers.

Objectives:

To determine the extent of differences in farm income distribution due to the adoption of MV rice technology and also determine the differences in farmers income distribution under different production environment.

Methodology:

The study used survey data from primary sources which were collected from the sample farmer through direct interview method using predesigned questionnaire. In selecting sample farmers, simple random sampling technique was used while selecting upazillas, villages and farmesr. Farmers were selected in five categories:small owners farmers, small tenant farmers, medium owner farmers, medium tenant farmers and large farmers from favorable and un-favorable environment. Collected data were analyzed using simple statistical tools.
