Abstract/ Executive Summary:

A demonstration was conducted to determine effect of drought for different transplanting dates, to document impact and cost analysis of supplemental irrigation for timely crop establishment and to determine drought severity and its probability at different growth stages of T. Aman. Water Management practices were I₁= Supplemental Irrigation and I₂= Rainwater harvesting by levee management.and transplanting dates were T₁= 1^st August, T₂= 6^th August, T₃= 15^th August and T₄= 21^st August. Results showed that interaction effect of water management and date of transplanting was not significant (p>0.05) on yield and yield contributing parameters. Supplemental irrigation plot gave slightly higher yield compared to yield achieved from rainwater harvesting for all transplanting dates. Results also revealed that yield decreased gradually in the plots that had been transplanted later than the first one. Maximum yield (4.66 t/ha) was achieved from supplemental irrigated plot. The transplanting date was 1^st of August. Receiving the same water management, plot transplanted 21 days after the 1^st transplanting date gave 14% reduced yield. Yield reduction due to 21 days late transplanting in Rainwater harvesting plot was 24% compared to the yield of rice transplanted on 1^st August.
