Field experiments were conducted at two locations, viz. BINA sub-stations Ishurdi and Magura during Kharif-I, 2006 with 14 promising mungbean mutants like MB-16 (1), MB-16 (2), MB-35, MB-45 (2), MB-49, E1J-613, E5M-1001, E4I-515, E4I-714, E2J-712, N1M-102, N3I-305, N4I-413 and N5M-513 along with two check varieties, Binamoog-5 and Binamoog-7 to assess the superiority of the advanced mutants with respect to their morphological, yield and yield attributes. Results revealed that plant height and branch number had no distinct relation with seed yield in mungbean. Ten mutants out of 14 showed superior yield performance compared to two check cultivars, Binamoog-5 and Binamoog-7. Six mutants viz., MB-16 (1), MB-45 (2), E5M-1001, E4I-515, N3I-305 and N5M-513 produced higher mean yield with being the highest in N5M-513 (11.4 g/plant). The seed yield was higher in those genotypes due to production of higher pods/plant except MB-45 (2). MB-45 (2) produced lower number of pods/plant yet showed higher yield for bolder seed size. Among the genotypes, only MB-16 (1) showed stable yield over locations and also gave mean high yield and matured seven days earlier than the check cultivars.

To assess the superiority of the advanced mutants with respect to their morphological, yield and yield attributes.

Field experiments were conducted at two locations, viz. BINA sub-stations Ishurdi and Magura during Kharif-I, 2006 with 14 promising mungbean mutants like MB-16 (1), MB-16 (2), MB-35, MB-45 (2), MB-49, E1J-613, E5M-1001, E4I-515, E4I-714, E2J-712, N1M-102, N3I-305, N4I-413 and N5M-513 along with two check varieties, Binamoog-5 and Binamoog-7. The experiment was laid out in line sowing with three replications and each line length was 4 m. Each replication had three lines. Recommended cultural practices were done as and when necessary. Data on morphological and yield attributes were collected from 10 randomly selected plants of each replication and seed yield was taken from the two lines and converted into g/plant.
