Improvement of the Water Resources Management for a Sustainable Rice-wheat System in BARInd Area: Study on Rainwater Conservation in T. Aman Season-2000

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The study was conducted at Bagsara Paba than, Rajshahi Barind area in T. Aman season to adopt suitable levee height for sufficient rainwater conservation for T. Aman rice cultivation under rainfed condition. The treatments were:T₁= 10 cm levee height around the plot, T₂= 15 cm levee height around the plot and T₃= farmers practice (around 12 cm levee height around the plot). Treatments were replicated three time with the variety BRRI dhan32. Thirty days old seedlings were used and fertilizer rates were 80:60:40 kg/ha. Highest grain yield (3700 kg/ha) was found in treatment T₂and lowest grain yield (3350 kg/ha) was found in treatment T₁. Water productivity was ranging from 2.29 – 2.4 kg/ha/mm under treatment T₁ to T₃.
