Rain Water Conservation in Aman Season-1999

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This study was conducted at Chowbaria, Rajshahi Barind area in Aman season to adopt 15 cm levee height for sufficient rainwater conservation for T. Aman rice cultivation under rainfed condition.The varieties were BRRI dhan31, BRRI dhan32 and BRRI dhan33, respectively. Thirty days old seedlings were used with the spacing of 20x15 cm and fertilizer were applied as 80-60-40 kg/ha of NPK. Rainfall was measured in the experimental site with a raingage. Highest grain yield (4000 kg/ha) was found in BRRI dhan31 and lowest grain yield (2600 kg/ha) was found in BRRI dhan33. Yield was less than optimum yield in case of BRRI dhan32, because the crop was lodged down during reproductive stage. BRRI dhan33 matured 20 days earlier than BRRI dhan32 ad about one month earlier than BRRI dhan31. As BRRI dhan33 matured earlier, so there was severe attack of insect and rat. As a result yield was less. Water productivity was highest (3.0 kg/ha-mm) BRRI dhan31 and was lowest (2.3 kg/ha-mm) in BRRI dhan33.
