Improvement of the Water Resources Management for a Sustainable Rice-wheat System in BARInd Area :monitoring Groundwater Level-1999

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The study was initiated from October, 1988 for measuring fluctuation range of groundwater table. Water table data were collected from 25 DTWs. The water depth in the wells was measured by a tape having weight at the end and reading was taken weekly. Maximum lowering of groundwater table was 11.6 m (9.15-14.00 m) found in the month of March and minimum was about 2.25 m (1.75-3.00 m) in the month of October. It has been observed that the fluctuation of water table is fluctuated by the amount of rainfall received during the monsoon.
