Demonstration on Neck Blast Disease Management Under Field Condition in BARIsal Region During Boro 2013-14

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An investigation was carried out to demonstrate blast disease management to the farmers. A total of five demonstrations were conducted during Boro 2013-14 at Barisal region. BRRI dhan29 and BRRI dhan47 were grown at farmer’s field condition. To demonstrate blast disease management the whole plot was divided into two parts. In one part BRRI recommended practices were applied and in other part remained as farmer`s practices. Balanced doses of fertilizer and judicial application of fungicides (Trooper or Nativo or Zeel) were the packages of BRRI recommended practices. Blast severity data were collected during harvesting. Blast disease was controlled successfully in BRRI managed plot than farmers plot. All of the chemicals used in BRRI recommended practices suppressed neck blast disease over farmer`s practices. Grain yield was also increased in BRRI recommended plot due to the suppression of neck blast disease.

Achievement/Findings:

All of the chemicals used in BRRI recommended practices suppressed neck blast disease over farmer`s practices. Grain yield was also increased in BRRI recommended plot due to the suppression of neck blast disease.
