A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of sulphur, zinc, boron and manganese on the seed growth and yield of wheat. The experiment comprised of four varieties namely Prodip, Gourab, Shatabdi and Bijoy and five fertilizer treatments viz. NPK (control), NPK + S, NPK +B, NPK + Mn and NPK + Zn. The rate of fertilizers were 25 kg S, 2 Kg B, 2 Kg Mn and 4 Kg Zn ha-1 along with NPK of 220-180-50 kg ha-1. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications by distributing varieties to the main plots and fertilizers to the sub plots. Among the varieties Prodip was superior regarding the seed growth characters under studied and the lowest value were found in Bijoy at different days after anthesis. With a few exceptions, the highest seed growth parameters were observed in NPK+B treatment and the lowest values were foond in NPK (control) treatment. Seed growth rate increased slowly at the early stages of seed growth and reached in peak at 14-21 days after anthesis (DAA) and then decreased markedly but minimum at 28-35 DAA for all varieties and fertilizer treatments. The variety Prodip produced significantly the highest grain yield (4.86 t ha-1), while the lowest grain yield (2.30 t ha-1) was obtained from Gourab. The highest yield (4.10 t ha -1) recorded with application of NPK+B treatment and the lowest figures (2.89 t ha -1) obtained in the control.

To studying the effect of sulphur, zinc, boron and manganese on grain growth and yield of wheat.

An experiment was carried out at the Agronomy Field laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension, Rajshahi University, Rajshahi, during the period from November 2009 to March 2010 to study the effect of sulphur, boron, manganese and zinc on the yield and yield components of wheat. Four varieties were Prodip, Gourab, Shatabdi and Bijoy. There were five fertilizer treatments NPK (control), NPK + S, NPK + B, NPK + Mn and NPK + Zn. The rate of fertilizers were 25 kg s, 2 kg B, 2 kg Mn and 4 kg Zn along with NPK of 220-180-50 kg/ha. The experiment was laid out in a split-plot design with three replications by distributing varieties to the main plots and fertilizers to the sub plots. The size of each unit plot was 4m ´ 2m. All plots received recommended doses of N, P, and K which were applied in the form of urea, TSP and MOP respectively. Wheat seeds were sown in line on 17 November, 2009 at the rate of 120 kg ha-1 with 25 cm spacing between lines. Intercultural operations were done uniformly in each plot as and when necessary. Data were recorded on seed growth and seed yield. The recorded data were analyzed using the “analysis of variance” technique and mean differences were adjudged by New Duncans Multiple Range Test (DMRT) (Gomez and Gomez, 1984) with the help of computer package MSTAT-C.
