Performance of Wet Seeded Rice (wsr) in T. Aman Season: Thakurgaon-1997

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An observation trial was conducted on WSR with BR11 at Thakurgaon tubewell project. Yield was found 5.36 t/ha from the trial. Six supplemental irrigation were applied of which total amount was 300 mm. It is mentioned that experiment was late to start. If WSR is sown in mid June then the farmer can be able to avoid irrigation in the month of October which sometimes might be the causes of a drought due to early cease of rainfall and affect the rice yield. So with the early cultivation of WSR maximum area can be cultivated as minimum supplemental irrigation will be required.

Objectives:

Methodology:

An observation trial was conducted on WSR with BR11 at Thakurgaon tubewell project. Fertilizer doses were 100:80:60:20 kg/ha of NPKS. All P and K were applied during land preparation. N was applied in 4 equal splits as top dress. 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd top dresses were used after 20 days of seeding, early vegetative stage and late vegetative stage, respectively. Final top dress was applied at panicle initiation stage of the crop. Gypsum was applied as topdress after 35 days of sowing the seeds. Ronstar was used to control weed and diazinon 60 EC for insects.

Achievement/Findings:

In WSR, yield was found 5.36 t/ha from the trial with six supplemental irrigation. Early cultivation of WSR may required minimum supplemental irrigation.
