Studies on Boron for Potential Yield Achievement in Mungbean

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

A pot experiment was conducted at BINA pot yard, Mymensingh during March to May 2006 to see the effect of boron levels on biochemical parameters and yield of three mungbean varieties cv. Binamung-5, Binamung-6 and binamung-7. The experiment consist of seven doses of boron viz., 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 kg/ha. Results indicated that plant height, chlorophyll content and soluble protein, yield attributes and seed yield was greater in B applied plant than control. However, application of B @ 0.5-1.5 kg/ha did not have any significant influence on plant height, biochemical characters, yield attributes and seed yield. B dose beyond 1.5 kg/ha increased seed yield significantly. The straw and seed yield was higher when boron was applied between 2.0-3.0 kg/ha

Methodology:

A pot experiment was conducted at BINA pot yard, Mymensingh during March to May 2006 to see the effect of boron levels on biochemical parameters and yield of three mungbean varieties cv. Binamung-5, Binamung-6 and binamung-7. The experiment consist of seven doses of boron viz., 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 kg/ha. Experiment was arranged CRD with 4 replicates. Acid wash sand was used in the study. Each pot was filled with 12 kg sand and liquid nutrient solution added twice a week. Boron according to dose was applied 20 DAS. Chlorophyll and soluble protein were determined at flowering stage. At harvest, yield and yield component was recorded and the collected data were analyzed statistically.
