Experiments were conducted with thirty one lentil mutants at BINA sub-stations Jamalpur and Ishurdi to screen for high yield. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The genotypes N4M-423 and E2M-727 produced taller plants, seven genotypes were shorter while the rest of the genotypes were in intermediate group. Primary branch number ranged from 2.10 to 3.40 plant-1. Out of thirty one mutants, three mutants viz., E5M-1027, E5M-711 and E2M-727 showed better yield performance in both locations.

To screen thirty one lentil mutants for high yield

Thirty one lentil mutants were evaluated at BINA sub-stations, Jamalpur and Ishurdi during 2012 to March 2013. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The unit plot size was 1.0 m x 1.5 m and seeds were sown in lines with 30 cm apart. At harvest, data on yield and yield attributes were recorded from randomely selected 10 plants of each plot. Data were analyzed statistically and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) compared the means.

Preliminary evaluation of lentil mutants revealed that out of 31 mutants three produced higher seed yield.
