Summary of Works on the Brown Planthopper, Nilaparvata Lugens (stal) at Bangladesh Rice Research Institute

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Large scale infestation and hopper burn in the Boro crop has increased in few acres in 1976 to several thousand acres in 1978 caused by brown planthopper (BPH). From this year BPH can be considered as a major pest of rice in Bangladesh. The area and number of outbreaks of this pest are expected to be increase in the coming years. BRRI has so far conducted research on biology, identification of resistance sources, biotype studies and insecticidal control against BPH.
