Development of Flyer Spinning System by Adapting Ring Spinning System.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An apron Draft spinning machine was converted into ring spinning system. In the study conversion rings and travellers were used and fine yarn upto 103 tex was produced. It was shown that the converted machine was able to produce fine yarn, which was not possible by existing flyer spinning machine. The speed of the spindles increased upto 8000 rpm from its original flyer speed of 4250 rpm. Bangla Tossa B (BTB) and Bangla White C (BWC) jute fibres were used for making the fine yarns. It was compared with the yarn produced by spingard spinning machine, which normally produces fine jute yarn. The spinning performance and characteristics of produced yarns are comparable with standard fine yarns.

Objectives:

To develop a technique for making the production of jute yarn possible by the developed system.

Methodology:

Jute is a natural cellulosic bast fibre. It is a textile fibre of good spinnable character. At present there are large number of man-made fibre in the world textile market. Jute fibre has been facing a tough competition with man-made fibre since their emergence in the world textile market. To over come this competition, it is necessary to produce fine jute yarn by development, it may be possible to make fine jute yarn, which can be used for diversification of jute, such as light weight shopping bag, furnishing fabric, decorative fabrics etc. As a result, fibre can be used in the production of fabric, which leads to increases its in various fields. The aim of this study is to develop a technique for making the production of jute yarn possible by the developed system. There are various methods of jute spinning, both in the conventional area and in the non-conventional area. Under the conventional area, the following methods namely, Cap spinning, Mule spinning, Flyer spinnin, Ring spinning, Centrifugal spinning etc, are in use.

Achievement/Findings:

In this study, the component experiments were carried out on two samples of jute fibre, BTB and BWC. In bath cases spinning performance, like load at break, % strain, tenacity and textile modulus were satisfactory. The quality ratio is an important criteria for assessing a yarn. In this study, it was shown that the quality ratios were 79.1 for BTB fibre, 58.5 for BWC fibre and 64.5 for the yarn produced from BWC fibre by Gradella spinning. The jute fibre of BTB is better than BWC. So the quality of yarn produced from BTB was better than the yarn produced from BWC. So it is essential and preferable to used quality jute fibre for making fine yarn. The yarn produced by the standard Gradella spinning from the same grade of jute fibre and compared which is shown. It is shown that yarns produce by the developed machine are comparable and the machine can be able to produce fine yarn like 103 tex. If the developed system can be introduced in the jute mills, they will be able to produce fine jute yarn.
