Production Program of Mungbean

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

A production program of mungbean was carried out at MLT site, Dumuria during 2011-'12. BARI mung-6 was used in the program. The seed were sown in the third week of February 2012 at the rate of 45 kg/ha in two bighas of land. The land was irrigated twice. Two weeding was done during the cropping season. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 15 to 30 April 2012. Mungbean variety BARI mung- 6 was used in this program. The yield of BARI mung- 6 was found 1681 kg/ha. The gross margin was Tk. 68481/ha and BCR was 2.11.

Objectives:

i) To expand the area of mungbean in the saline areas of Dumuria, Khulna.

ii) To increase cropping intensity as well as crop productivity in the region.

Methodology:

The program was carried out at the MLT site, Dumuria during the rabi season of 2011-'12. BARI mung 6 was used in the production program. The land area was 2 bighas. The land was fertilized with 45-100-58 Kg NPK/ha respectively. Entire amount of all fertilizers were applied as basal during final land preparation. The seeds were sown on 15 February 2012 at the rate of 45 kg/ha. The land was irrigated two times and the salinity of the irrigation water was measured. Two weeding was done during the cropping season. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 15 to 30 April 2012.

Achievement/Findings:

BARI mung 6 could be grown successfully in early kharif season with good yield (1681 kg/ha) and economic benefit in the saline areas of Dumuria.
