Different type of Urea Super Granule (USG) applicators performance were tested in three locations  at FMPE Research field, RARS Jamalpur, Farmer field, gazipur.  The treatments were T1= Application of USG by the BRRI applicator, T2= Application of USG by the BARI applicator, T3= Application of USG by sign row IFDC applicator, T4= Application of USG push type IFDC applicator, T5= Application of USG by hand and T6= Prilled urea.  All the treatments were replicated thrice with RCB design. The applicators were tested for BRRI dhan 28 during 2014-15. The average field capacity of the BRRI, BARI, IFDC single row and IFDC injector type USG applicators were 0.120, 0.124, 0.0456 and 0.040 ha/h respectively. In case of yield, there was no significant difference among the treatment, but comparatively higher yield in BARI double row and IFDC injector type USG applicators. The Benefit cost ratio (BCR) of the BRRI, BARI and IFDC single row USG applicators were 2.75, 2.86 and 1.07days respectively.. This experiment will be continued to the next year for its better performance.

a) Testing and evaluation of different injector type USG applicator

      (b) Analyze the economic performance of applicators

Different type of USG applicator were collected from various organization like as BARI, BRRI, BAU,  and IFDC. All the USG applicators were tested at laboratory and different location. All the USG applicators were tested to find out its performance during 2014-15 in laboratory of FMPE division, BARI, Gazipur. Lab test were conducted to find out different parameters like as USG missing rate, USG excess rate, breakage, weight, hopper capacity, etc. Different USG applicator performance  were tested  in three locations ( FMPE Divisional Research field, RARS Jamalpur and farmer field in gazipur) during 2014-15.Field test were conducted 7-8 days after transplanting Boro rice. The applicator was tested in 2-5 cm of standing water and variety was BRRI dhan-28. Experiments were designed with three replications and six treatments. The treatments were:- T1= Application of USG by the BRRI applicator, T2= Application of USG by the BARI applicator, T3= Application of USG by the IFDC single row applicator , T4= Application of USG by the IFDC injector type applicator,T5=  Application of USG by hand, T6= Control. Experiments plot size were (30×2.5), (20.5×2.5) and (10×5)m2 at farmer field gazipur, FMPE research field and RARS, Jamalpur respectively. The plant spacing and row spacing were 20 cm and the size of USG used for experiment was 2.5g. All machine performance data were collected from laboratory test and experiments field. Crop response data were collected from experiments fields like as plant height, plant population, yield, etc. Yield data were collected from each plot. R software is used for analyzing of various data.

1.   Budget:

It was found that guti missing of the applicators were 2, 15, 3 and 8% for IFDC single row, BAU double row, BARI double row, BRRI double row respectively. Whereas it was 0% for IFDC injector type USG applicator. Almost same result found in guti breaking due to friction.  Maximum  distance uniformity was found from BARI double row USG applicator i.e 83.5%. BAU double row applicator was not suitable for field application, because  guti missing, breaking were very high and distance uniformity was very low. Field performance test result of different USG applicators in gazipur and Jamalpur are shown in table 3, 4 and 5. It was found that the average field capacity of the BRRI, BARI, IFDC Single row, IFDC injector type USG applicators were 0.120, 0.124, 0.0456 and 0.040 ha/h respectively. Performance of different type of USG applicators for BRRI dhan 28 in FMPE research field are shown in table 6.  There were no significant differences among treatments in case of plant height. But maximum plant height was observed in T4 (90.84 cm). Panicle length is an important characteristic of yield. It was observed that there were significant differences among the treatments and maximum panicle length found from treatment T2 (24.51 cm). The lowest panicle length was recorded in T1, which was identical to the BRRI USG applicator. No significant differences were observed among the treatments in other yield and yield contribution parameters. If there were no statistical difference, but maximum yield was obtained from treatments T2 (6.65 t/ha) i.e BARI USG applicator in FMPE divisional research field. Performance of different type of USG applicators for BRRI dhan 28  in farmer field at Gazipur are shown in table 7. Significant differences were found in panicle length and 1000 grain weight among the treatments. The height panicle length and grain weight were observed in T4 (23.74 cm) and T3 (21.33g) respectively and lowest in T6 (19.85 cm) and T5 (20.33 g) .  No statistical differences were observed in yield among the treatments, but maximum yield was obtained from T2 (4.40 t/ha). It was observed that the other yield contribution parameters in treatment T2 were maximum or near to the maximum value. The lowest yield was recorded in farmer practices (T6). No significant variation were observed for plant height, no. of panicle/m2,  no of filled and unfilled grain/ panicle, 1000 grain wt. and yield. The height yield (5.90 t/ha) was recorded in T4, which was identical to the IFDC injector type USG applicator. The lowest yield was found from farmer practice T6. There was a significant difference in panicle length and maximum found in T2 (24.42 cm), If the applicators were used for custom hiring, net return found to be Tk. 47287, Tk. 49987, Tk. 2307 and Tk. -1213 per year for BRRI applicator, BARI applicator, IFDC single row applicator and IFDC injector type applicator respectively. Maximum BCR was found in BARI applicator that is 2.86.  The Benefit cost ratio (BCR) of the BRRI, BARI and IFDC single row USG applicators were 2.75, 2.86 and 1.07days respectively.Whereas IFDC injector type USG applicator was not suitable for custom hiring. The average field capacity of the BRRI, BARI, IFDC single row and IFDC injector type USG applicators were 0.120, 0.124, 0.0456 and 0.040 ha/h respectively. In case of yield, there were no significant difference among the treatment, but comparatively higher yield in BARI double row  and IFDC injector type USG applicators. The Benefit cost ratio (BCR) of the BRRI, BARI and IFDC single row USG applicators were 2.75, 2.86 and 1.07days respectively.
