Seeds of thirty nine test cross hybrids were produced by hand pollination using 13 S4 lines with four tester inbreds. Total 3.37 kg F1 seeds were produced from different crosses. These hybrids would be evaluated in the next rabi season to select promising one(s).

To find out heterotic hybrids and heterotic partners.

The experiment was conducted at Joydebpur during rabi 2012-13. Seeds of 13 S4 lines of 900 M hybrid and four tester inbred lines (BIL- 106, BIL- 110, BIL- 28 and L- 22) were sown on 26 December, 2012. Each inbred line was sown in a row with 5 m long plot. Spacing was 60 x 20 cm (one plant/hill). One healthy seedling per hill was kept after proper thinning. Fertilizers were, applied @ 120, 80, 80, 20, 5 kg/ha on N, P2O5, K2O, S and Zn, respectively. Irrigation and other intercultural operations were provided as and when necessary. Plant protection measures were taken when required. Hand pollination using bulk pollen was taken to produce crosses.
