The experiment was carried out to evaluate Rovral and Secure with different combinations  against stemphylium blight disease of lentil caused by Stemphylium botryosum. The investigation was designed in RCB with three replications. The minimum disease score (1.0) was recorded from alternate spray of Rovral and Secure treated plots and the highest (3.00) was observed in control plot. Among the four treatment combinations highest number of pods plant-1 (64.33) and grain yield (1140.33 kg ha-1) was obtained from the plots sprayed alternately with Rovral and Secure. Lowest number of pods plant-1 (38.67) and grain yield (980.67 kg ha-1) was obtained from the control plot.

The present research work was undertaken to evaluate some fungicides against stemphylium blight disease of lentil.

The experiment was carried out in the field of Plant Pathology Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Gazipur during 2013-14. The experiment was carried out in randomized completely block design (RBD) having three replications. The treatments were applied to the plots in a random selection in each block. The plot size was 3 × 2 m2. Four treatments viz. i) Rovral, ii) Secure, iii) alternate spray of secure and rovral, iv) Secure + Rovral (1:1) and v) Control was applied. BARI Moshur-1 (Utfala) seeds were used in this experiment. The lentil seeds were sown in furrows maintaining 10 cm distance to another. The furrows were covered with the soil after sowing of seeds. The line to line distance also maintained as 30 cm with continuous sowing of seeds between the lines.  The experimental plots were monitored regularly to notice any symptoms of stemphylium blight disease infection. Spraying of tested materials was applied when first disease was appeared. At least three sprays were done at 10 days of interval. The disease score of stemphylium blight of lentil was first recorded at 62 days after sowing following a rating scale (0-5 scale). Final disease data was recorded at 85 days after sowing. Data on number of pods plant-1 and yield kg ha-1were also recorded. The number of pods plant-1 was counted from the average of 10 plants selected at random from the each plot. Grain yield of lentil kg ha-1 was calculated by converting the weight of plot yield into hectare and was expressed in kg. All data were analyzed statistically using MSTAT-C computer package program. Treatment mean were compared using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% levels of significance.

All the tested fungicides reduced the disease and significantly increased number of pods plant-1 and yield of lentil compared to control. The lowest (1.00) disease score was observed in plots sprayed alternately with Rovral and Secure (2 and 1g/L) and this treatment was statistically similar with the other treatments except control. The highest (3.00) disease score was observed in the control plot. The number of pods plant-1 also influenced significantly by the different treatments of Rovral and Secure over control. The maximum (64.33) pods plant-1 was obtained from the plot sprayed alternately with Rovral and Secure which was statistically identical with the mixture of Rovral and Secure (1:1). The minimum (38.67) no. of pods plant-1 was recorded from the control plot. Seed yield of lentil was also affected by the treatments of Rovral and Secure. Yield of lentil was considerably increased when the plots treated with Rovral and Secure in all combinations compared to control. The maximum seed yield (1140.33 kg ha-1) was obtained from the plot sprayed alternately with Rovral and Secure which was statistically identical to the mixture of Rovral and Secure (1:1). Minimum (980.67 kg ha-1) yield was obtained from the control plot. Management of stemphylium blight disease of lentil was successfully achieved through application of all the treatments except control. The tested materials reduced the disease and noticeably increased yield of lentil in comparison to control. The lowest disease score with highest seed yield was achieved by the alternate application of Rovral and Secure. In that case the lentil growers of Bangladesh can reduce their production cost by spraying alternately with Rovral and Secure
