A field experiment was conducted at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University experimental farm during August to November 2010 to observe the effect of full recommended doses of fertilizer (RDF) alone and in combination with 1000, 3000 and 5000 times diluted nutrient solution together with 50 and 75% RDF on the yield and quality of rice (BR 11). The highest grain yield of 4.42 t/ha was obtained due to the cumulative effect of maximum number of tillers per hill, panicle length (cm) and 1000 seed weight (g) on the other hand total soluble solids (brix value), protein, ash, ascorbic acid and β-carotene contents in rice were the highest where 1000 times diluted nutrient solution was added along with 100% recommended dose of fertilizers. Treatment receiving thousand times diluted nutrient solution along with 75% RDF also showed similar results in most of the parameters of the crop studied.

To observe the effect of full recommended doses of fertilizer (RDF) alone and in combination with 1000, 3000 and 5000 times diluted nutrient solution together with 50 and 75% RDF on the yield and quality of rice (BR 11).

A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, Bangladesh during 18 August to 23 November, 2010. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with six treatment combinations replicated thrice. Plot size was 3m x 4m. Rice (BR11) was used as the test crop. The treatment combinations comprised of three levels of nutrient solution (1000, 3000, 5000 times dilution concentration ukisinki solution) together with full or partial (75 and 50%) recommended doses of fertilizers (RDF). The detailed treatment combinations were T1. Control (100% RDF), T2. 1000 times diluted nutrient solution (TDNS) + 100% RDF, T3. 3000 TDNS + 100% RDF, T4. 5000 TDNS + 100% RDF, T5. 1000 TDNS + 75% RDF and T6. 1000 TDNS + 50% RDF. All treatments received full doses of recommended nitrogen. Full Dose of TSP, MP , Gypsum, Boric Acid, Zinc Sulphat(Monohydrate) and half dose of urea were applied at the time of final land preparation as per different treatments. Remaining urea was applied in two split applications where one at the third week and another at the fifth week after transplantation. Preparation and application of 1000, 3000 and 5000 times diluted nutrient solution Twelve liters of nutrient solution was applied with irrigation water in each plot at 3 days before transplantation, maximum tilering stage, booting stage and 3 days before harvest of the crop. Intercultural operations were done when necessary. Data collection on 1. Plant height (cm): Average height of 36 hills at harvest. 2.  Number of tillers per hill: from 36 hills at harvest. 3. Panicle length (cm): from 36 hills at harvest. 4. Grain yield (t/ha): It was calculated from mean yield per plot and grain moisture was measured immediately after weighing. 5. Straw yield (t/ha): It was calculated from mean straw yield per plot. N, P, K, S and B were determined by micro kjeldahl method, molybdate blue method, flame photometer method, turbidity method and Hunter method, respectively. Total soluble solids (TSS) by Abbe Refractometer Atago Co. Japan, total ash content, Nitrogen content in grain, Reducing and non-reducing sugar (using Bertrand-A, Bertrand-B, and Bcrlrand-C solutions) ascorbic acid and ß- Carotene by Spectrophotometer (Model 200-20, Hitachi, Japan) at 663 nm, 645 nm, 505 nm, and 453 nm was determined. Calculation was done by the following formula :ß- Carotene content = 0.216 [663] + 0.452 [453] - 1.22 [645] – 0.304 [505], Where, Bold figures indicate optimal density. Statistical analysis was done following LSD test.

Nutrient solution played an important role in increasing the yield and quality of rice when applied with recommended dose of fertilizers. Thousand times diluted when applied with 100% recommended dose of fertilizers was found to be optimum to increase the yield and yield contributing characters and quality of rice for Red Brown Terrace Soil of Madhupur Tract. Treatment receiving 1000 times diluted nutrient solution along with 75% RDF also showed similar results in most of the parameters of the crop studied.
