Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The adaptive trial was conducted with three advance lines BAW 1130, BAW 1138 and BA W 1140 along with check variety Shatabdi were evaluated at two farmers field under optimum seeding conditions. The genotypes were evaluated for yield, and yield components, heading, plant height, yield and visual grain quality, etc with the close supervision of Seed Certificate Agency (SCA) with the concern scientists of RWRC, Rajshahi. The maximum average yield over two location among the tested genotypes was produced by BAW 1138 followed by BAW 1140 and check variety Shatabdi respectively. These genotypes produced satisfactory yields in both sites. Field evaluation committee of national seed board will be reported considering the overall yield and other characters of genotypes and they recommended three two genotypes viz: BAW 1140, and BAW 1138 for new variety in the variety evaluation committee.

Objectives:

To evaluate at on-station as well as on farm to test their yield and adaption to wide ranges of environments.

Methodology:

The adaptive trial was conducted with promising lines BAW 1130, BA W 1138 and Baw 1140 with Shatabdi as a check variety at tow farmers field at Pali, Durgapur and Kalabipara, Charghat under Rajshahi district. These advanced lines were selected from candidate variety demonstration 2010-11. The trial was laid out in Split plot design with two replications. Unit plot size was 5m x4m. Recommended cultural package of practices were followed to raise the crop under irrigated condition. Fertilizers were applied @ N₁₀₀ P₂₆ K_5o S₂₀ B₁ kg/ha with one third of urea applied as top dress at 1^st irrigation during CRr stage (17-21 D AS). Affinity was used to control weed three days after 1^st irrigation. The seeds were sown during November 24 (at Kalabipara, Charghat) and November 27,2011 (at Pali, Durgapur). Data was recorded on different agronomic characters, diseases, sterility, 1000-grain weight and visual seed characteristics. At maturity stage crop cut was done at presence of Committee members of Nation Seed Board and grain yield was estimated from five 10m² samples from each plot. Then the harvested grain yield was expressed as kg per hectare. The collected data were analyzed and means were compared by LSD.

Achievement/Findings:

The genotype tested showed significant variation only for days heading and others characters plant height, thousand grain weight and grain yield were not statistical significant. Among the genotypes, the maximum days for heading (79) was recorded in case of check variety Shatabdi with second highest yield (5323.00 kg ha^-1) while BAW 1138 performed nine days early maturity than check variety Shatabdi with the maximum yield (5492.50 kg ha^-1). BAW 1140 was the earliest in heading and all other genotypes were the earliest in maturity than check Shatabdi. The genotype BA W 1138 was the tallest genotypes but BAW 1130 was dwarf material (97.63 cm) compare to check variety Shatabdi with the minimum yield (5002.50 kg ha^-1) and also bolder seeded than check (49.48 gm of thousand seed weight).
