Eight advance lines of wheat along with check varieties Shatabdi and BARI Gom 26 were evaluated at WRC, Dinajpur, Joydebpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Ishurdi and Rajshahi in RCB factorial design with three replications. The trial was planted under irrigated timely sown and irrigated late sown conditions. The genotypes were evaluated for yield and yield components, heading, maturity, disease reaction, sterility, visual grain quality, etc. The effect of sowing time, location and genotypes and their different interaction levels were significant for most of the traits. All the genotypes produced the higher thousand grain weight (TGW) compare to both the check varieties. All the selected genotypes produced higher yield compare to both of the checks. The highest yield (4694 kg/ha) was obtained in Ishurdi and the lowest yield (3810 kg/ha) was obtained in Rajshahi location.  All the selected lines produce lower yield due to late seeding compare to timely sowing. Considering the overall yield and other characters the genotype BAW 1208, BAW 1209, BAW 1219 and BAW 1222 was finally selected for further evaluation in multi-location trial

The objective of this trial was to evaluate the performance of the advanced lines compared to the existing varieties of wheat and to select the promising lines for further evaluation in multi-location trials at farmers’ field for developing high yielding wheat varieties.

The trial was conducted with eight promising lines selected from PYT of 2013-14. The varieties Shatabdi and BARI Gom 26 were used as checks. The experiment was laid out in RCB factorial design with three replications at six locations (Dinajpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Joydebpur, Ishurdi and Rajshahi). The trial was sown under irrigated timely sown (ITS) and irrigated late sown (ILS) conditions in each location. Seeds were sown continuously in 5m long 8-row plots with a row spacing of 20 cm. Recommended cultural practices were followed to raise the crop in better condition.  Data were recorded on different agronomic characters, diseases, sterility, 1000-grain weight and visual seed characteristics. At maturity, the middle five-meter long five rows were harvested to estimate yield. The double-digit disease scores were converted to percent diseased leaf area (% DLA) for BpLB disease. The collected data were analyzed using Cropstat program.

The effect of seeding times revealed that all traits were significantly influenced by seeding time. Days to maturity were earlier at late sowing condition. The number of spikes m-2 was significantly higher at late sown condition. The TGW was higher at ITS condition compared to ILS condition. The higher yield was achieved under ITS than ILS condition. The effect of locations on yield showed that the height yield was achieved at Ishurdi (4659 kg ha-1) followed by Dinajpur (4050 kg ha-1) . The lowest yield was recorded at Rajshahi (3612 kg ha-1). The effect of location on yield showed that higher yield was recorded in Jamalpur location followed by Dinajpur and the lowest yield was obtained in Rajshahi. All the tested genotypes headed and matured earlier shorter than the check variety Shatabdi. The highest spike m-2 was recorded in BAW1209 which was statistically higher than both of the check variety. All the genotypes under study had higher 1000-grain weight than both the check variety. The highest 1000-grain weight was recorded in BAW 1219 which was statistically similar to BAW 1208.  The lowest 1000-grain weight was showed in Shatabdi. All the selected genotype out yielded both the check varieties. The highest yield was achieved in BAW 1222, followed by BAW 1219, BAW 1220 and BAW 1217.  All the genotypes tested in this trial had earlier than check variety Shatabdi. The highest spike per square meter under ITS condition was recorded in BAW 1222 at Jessore whereas the lowest spike per square meter was recorded under ITS condition at Joydebpur in check variety BARI Gom 26. The effect of seeding time, genotypes and their interactions over locations showed that the highest yield was achieved in BAW 1220 (5696 kg ha-1) at Ishurdi under ITS condition, followed by  BAW 1214 (5658 kg ha-1) and BAW 1223(5507 kg ha-1) at same location and condition. All the tested genotypes in all the locations under ITS condition produced higher yield than check variety Shatabdi. The lowest yield was recorded in BAW 1214 (3034 kg ha-1) at Rajshahi under ILS condition. The highest mean yield was recorded in BAW 1222 (4299 kg ha-1) followed by BAW 1219 (4269 kg ha-1) , BAW 1220 (4262 kg ha-1) and BAW 1217 (4220 kg ha-1). The lowest yield was recorded from all the selected lines compare to both the check varieties. All the selected lines show resistant reaction against leaf rust disease and posses good tolerance against leaf blight
