Seven parental lines were used in the crossing program. A total of 1406 buds were crossed, from which, 1024 siliquae were developed and a  total of 3781 seeds were produced. Study revealed that, 73% of the crosses were successful.

2. To explore several parents through different crosses to develop  convergent crosses

Seven parental lines (Tori-7, Kalaynia, Sonali Sarisha, BARI Sarisha-9, BARI Sarisha-12, BARI Sarisha-14 and BARI Sarisha-15) were used to achieve the objectives. The seeds of different parental lines of the experiment were sown two times on 08 November and 15 November 2013 to synchronize the flowering for hybridization. In the 1st sowing of the experiment, the entries flowered on 10 December 2013 to 20 December 2013. In the 2nd sowing, the entries flowered on 15 December 2013 to 25 December 2013. The hybridization was done with the following cross combinations. Tori- 2 x BARI Sarisha-9, BARI Sarisha-12 x Kalaynia, BARI Sarisha-14 x BARI Sarisha-6, BARI Sarisha-15 x Sonali sarisha. Inter cultural operations were done as and when necessary.
